Episode 68

The Mutul Broadcasting System brings you another episode of Life in Hyperion.

Today's episode: "Out With The Old", Part 1

Yesterday, We ended the fifth serial of the series with Thomas' announcement that, after a few weeks of living with Cy, that he was gonna move out and move in with his mother.  As we begin the sixth serial of the series, Cy has gotten over the shock and has made his way to work...

----------------------------------------------------------------------

As Cy walks his way down the hallway at WHYP to the green room, his mood is that, not of happiness, or sadness, but something in the middle. As he walks into the green room, he spies Conrad and Phil on opposite sides of the room.

"Good morning, people." says Cy.

"Good morning, Cy. You seem a little down." says Phil, walking over with two cups of coffee.

"Thanks for the coffee. It looks like my house will be returning to a population of one." says Cy as he takes a cup for himself.

"Thomas is moving out?" asks Conrad.

"Just told me this morning. I've been thinking it over ever since." says Cy, who then takes a sip.

"He was with you for, I think, four weeks." says Phil.

"That was time well spent, Phil." says Cy.

"Did he tell you why he was moving?" asks Conrad.

"It all relates to what happened two days ago." says Cy.

"You mean, that other Mary Hartman?" asks Phil.

"The one and the different. It took him a day but he finally caved in." says Cy as he sits down in the green room easy chair.

"It must have been hard on him." says Conrad.

"Believe it. I mean, when he came in after his second visit yesterday, his head was on Mary's shoulder." says Cy.

"That still doesn't explain why he's leaving." says Phil.

"He just told me this morning, out of the blue, that he was gonna move in with Mary." says Cy.

"That's logical." says Conrad.

"How is that logical?" asks Cy.

"Tom and Mary Hartman must be together." says Conrad.

"I hadn't thought it that way, and I think I know why." says Cy.

"He's gonna change his last name sooner or later." says Conrad.

"I prefer later, when I can accept it." says Cy.

"He doesn't live with you anymore." says Conrad.

"Not until the end of the week." says Cy.

"If I'm right, he'll be gone by the end of the day." says Conrad.

"I hope that you're wrong." says Cy.

"You really fighting this idea of you being alone again." says Conrad.

"I am not fighting loneliness. I just wanna get things settled before he leaves." says Cy.

"Face it, he's leaving you alone like your mother did." says Conrad.

"And how's that?" asks Cy.

"Suddenly and quickly." says Conrad.

"Thomas told me he was leaving. That is a different thing." says Cy.

"It's the same thing. The only difference is that you have warning, unlike last time." says Conrad.

"My mother laid down to rest and never opened her eyes again. No one can predict that." says Cy.

"You're nit-picking now, Cy." says Conrad.

"At least I'm allowed to nit-pick." says Cy.

"What does that mean?" asks Conrad.

"Just that with your sister, you think to yourself that you don't nit-pick with what's going on with Darlene, but you keep doing it every time we talking about it." says Cy.

"Leave it alone, Cy." says Conrad.

"Now that's nit-picking." says Cy.

"Guys, don't fight here, unless you want the listening public to know what's going on." says Phil.

"Phil's here. We'll pick up after the show." says Cy.

"Deal." says Conrad.

Tomorrow, Thomas shares the news with his mother, who offers her own view of it.  That, alone, should bring you back for part two.
